Woman, 70, killed with iron rod

LAHORE : A 70-year-old woman was killed in a house in Safanwala Chowk Mozang area on Saturday.

The accused hit the old woman identified as Jameela Bibi on the head with an iron rod, resulting into her death. Her body was shifted to the morgue by Edhi ambulance.

214 GANGSTERS ARRESTED: Model Town Division police arrested 214 members of 89 gangs involved in serious crimes during the current year.

The accused involved in theft, robbery, burglary and snatching confessed to committing 105 such crimes. The accused were handed over to the Investigation Wing for further action.

3 INJURED WHILE RESCUING BUS DRIVER: Three persons were shot and wounded in Talab Sarai Manga Mandi on Saturday.

As per details, some unidentified persons were torturing a bus driver when some people raised objection and tried to rescue the driver. Upon which the accused opened firing, as a result three persons Faryad, Waqas and Ali got bullet injuries. The accused escaped from the scene. The injured persons were shifted to a local hospital where condition of one of the three injured persons was said to be critical.

WORKER ELECTROCUTED: A 23-year-old factory worker was electrocuted while repairing a motorbike and died on the spot in Raiwind area on Saturday.

The worker identified as Tauseef hailed from Gujrat. His body was shifted to the morgue.

SECURITY GUARD INJURED BY COLLEAGUE: A security guard was shot and injured by his colleague in Chung area on Saturday.

Security guard Faisal Mehmood shot and seriously injured his colleague M Yousuf following a monetary issue. The injured were admitted to a hospital. Chung police arrested the accused Faisal along with a rifle.

PO ARRESTED: Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a proclaimed offender namely Taskeen Haider.

It has learnt that the FIA team has arrested proclaimed offender Taskeen Haider from Sahiwal in case FIR No 137/2020 dated 31-07-2019 under sections 17/22 EO 1979. Assistant Sub-Inspector Hina Sehrish, M Abbas FC, Nazar Muhammad FC conducted the raid and arrested the said accused.

The accused had extorted Rs 2,00,000 from complainant Muzammil Hussain for sending him to UAE on employment visa but failed to honour his commitment and had absconded for fear of arrest.

4 CASES REGISTERED FOR SOPS VIOLATION: Lahore police registered four cases for violation of corona SOPs on Saturday.

Three cases were registered for violation of social distances and one case was registered for not using mask. A total of 6,719 cases were registered during the lockdown. 3653 cases were registered for not using mask while 3066 cases were registered for violation of other Corona SOPs.

Man shot dead in altercation: A man was shot dead and another injured during an altercation in Islampura area on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Irfan while the injured was identified as Arshad. Injured Arshad was shifted to a hospital while the body of deceased was shifted to the morgue.

ORTHOPEDIC CAMP: A free orthopedic camp was organised at District Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh on Saturday, keeping in view the health and well-being of the policemen.

Orthopedic consultant sports examined the policemen and their families visiting the camp. In the one-day camp, an orthopedic consultant instructed the cops suffering from bone problems to take precautionary measures as well as use medicines.

RS 1.5M RECOVERED FROM THIEF: Faisal Town Investigation police arrested a thief and recovered cash Rs 1.5 million from his possession.

The accused Suleman Ali came to the house of one Munawwar Hussain to do electrical work as an electrician. On his return, he stole the citizen's mobile phone and wallet.

The accused developed a mobile bank App using the citizen's mobile and identity card and withdrew Rs 1.5 million. Police recovered the cash Rs 1.5 million from the accused and handed over the amount to the victim.

POLICE SERVICES PROVIDED TO 9963 CITIZENS: Police Service Centers provided police services to a total of 9963 citizens during the current month.

Around 2695 citizen character and verification certificates were issued during the month of July. For general verification, 1471 citizens approached various police service centers, while character certificates were also issued on 60 applications received from abroad.

74 citizens availed the facility to get lost report, register 59 tenants and private employees and to get copies of FIRs.
