Citizen shoots fleeing robber dead in DHA
A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen on Khayaban-e-Sehar in Defence Housing Authority within the limits of the Darakhshan police station on Friday.
According to police, two gunmen intercepted a car and snatched cash amounting to Rs450,000 from a citizen, Nasir Farooq. Police said the citizen was carrying a licensed pistol and he initially did not offer resistance during the mugging, but as the suspects tried to flee after the crime, Farooq took out his weapon and opened fire on them, killing one of the suspects on the spot.
The other robber managed to flee the scene. The stolen cash was found on the deceased suspect.
Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the scene and inquired into the incident. Police said the incident took place when the citizen was returning from a bank after withdrawing cash.
Police have also obtained CCTV footage of the incident, which showed two armed men intercepting
Farooq’s car on a motorcycle and robbing him at
gunpoint.
The deceased suspect was identified as Zahid Hussain. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
