The Sindh transport and mass-transit department has announced that only vaccinated people will be allowed to travel in public buses in the province.
In a statement issued by the department on Friday, Sindh Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah said only vaccinated people would be allowed to travel through public transport. For this purpose, he said, vaccination certificates of the travellers would be checked before they entered the vehicles.
The minister also ordered checking of vaccination certificates of the intercity and inter-province travellers to protect the province from Covid-19. Shah urged the transporters and public transport operators to obey the guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Command and Operation Centre, and issue travel tickets to only those travellers who had showed their vaccination certificates.
Strict action, he warned, would be taken against those who would not follow these instructions as all government officials,
lawmakers and regional transport secretaries, and other departments had been ordered to monitor the transport services, especially during the Eid occasion.
