14 more fall prey to Covid, 713 others test positive

Fourteen more patients of the coronavirus died in Sindh over the past 24 hours (June 30), taking the death toll to 5,478 in the province. This was stated by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on Thursday. He added that with 14 more deaths, the mortality rate stood at 1.6 per cent.

He said that 13,935 samples were tested and 713 cases detected, which constituted a 5.1 per cent detection rate. So far 4,520,908 tests have been conducted in Sindh, and 338,370 people have tested positive. Of them, 92.6 per cent or 313,366 patients have recovered, including 630 overnight.

Currently, 19,526 patients were said to be under treatment. Of them 18,845 were in home isolation, 621 at hospitals and 60 patients in isolation centres. The chief minister said the condition of 559 patients was stated to be critical, including 46 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of the 713 new cases, 541 were reported from Karachi. Explaining the district-wise statistics, Shah said District East reported 210 cases, District Korangi 92, District South 86, District Central 77, District Malir 54 and District West 25 cases. Hyderabad reported 27, Sanghar 18, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Jamshoro 14, Badin 11, Naushero Feroze 10, Matiari and Sukkur nine each, Tharpakar, Thatta and Umerkot six each, Tando Allahyar four, Dadu, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shikarpur one each. The chief executive of the province urged the people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
