Inspector demoted over misbehaviour with MPA

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police authorities on Monday demoted Inspector Ibad Wazir to the rank of sub-inspector for misbehaving with a member of the provincial assembly.

According to an order issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Yasir Afridi a departmental inquiry was conducted against Ibad Wazir in which he was found guilty.

The order stated that the inquiry officer recommended major punishment to the inspector after which he was demoted to the rank of sub-inspector. The Ibad Wazir who was the Station House Officer of Khazana Police Station faced suspension after he had misbehaved with MPA from Bajaur Ajmal Khan and his gunmen who were personnel of the Bajaur police.

The lawmaker was with his family members when the incident happened in the Bakhshi Pull area which falls in the limits of the Khazana Police Station. The incident had triggered resentment of in the Bajaur Police on the one hand and angered the KP Assembly members on the other.

The entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had stood by the MPA as there was a heated debate in the provincial assembly for three days because the MPA Ajmal Khan had complained that Ibad Wazir had misbehaved with him despite the fact that he (lawmaker) had introduced himself and his bodyguards were cops.

The legislators both from the treasury and opposition benches had were highly critical of the misbehaviour by SHO Ibad Wazir with a fellow lawmaker and demanded strict action against him and reforms in the police force so that cops show respect to people.
