15 die of Covid-19 in Sindh as 591 new patients diagnosed

A total of 15 patients of Covid-19 died in Sindh during the previous 24 hours, after which the provincial death toll of the viral disease had reached 5,407.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said this on Friday in his daily statement on the pandemic situation on the province. He added that another 591 patients were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Sindh during the previous 24 hours, after the results of 13,348 tests were obtained.

The fatality rate of the viral disease in Sindh was 1.6 per cent, the CM explained. He added that the detection of 591 cases through 13,348 tests constituted a 4.4 per cent current detection rate.

According to Shah, so far 4,443,227 tests for Covid-19 had been conducted in Sindh, against which 335,027 cases were diagnosed, of which 92.6 per cent or 310,096 patients had recovered, including 600 during the previous 24 hours.

The CM said that there were currently 19,524 patients infected by the novel coronavirus in the province, of whom 18,882 were in home isolation, 30 at isolation centres and 612 at different hospitals. He stated that the condition of 556 patients was critical, and 59 of them had been shifted onto ventilators.

Of the 591 new cases, Shah said, 424 were detected in Karachi, including 159 in District East, 99 in District South, 65 in District Korangi, 45 in District Central, 34 in District West and 19 in District Malir. In the rest of Sindh, Thatta had 21 new cases, Badin and Sujawal 15 each, Kamber-Shahdadkot and Sanghar 14 each, Hyderabad 13, Naushehro Feroz nine, Mirpurkhas eight, Larkana and Matiari seven each, Jacobabad six, Khairpur five, Jamshoro, Tharparkar and Umerkot four each, Dadu three, Shaheed Benazirabad and Tando Allahyar two each, and Shikarpur had one new case.

The CM urged the people of Sindh to comply with the standard operating procedures announced by the government in order to prevent themselves and others from the contagious disease.
