‘RDA out of deficit’
Rawalpindi : Special Assistant Chief Minister Punjab for Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that in Rawalpindi the Punjab government with the federal government is committed to public service and for this purpose PTI is moving towards institutional reforms to strengthen the institutions, says a press release.
She said that under the leadership of PTI, RDA has been taken out of the deficit and the government’s efforts have resulted in a profit of Rs1 billion in three years which is a testament to the performance of RDA.
She said this while addressing a press conference at Rawalpindi Development Authority. Chairman RDA Tariq Murtaza, Vice Chairman Haroon Hashmi and DG RDA were present on the occasion. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that now RDA is moving towards setting up housing societies for white collar people. The RDA comprising of tehsils of Rawalpindi and has 386 housing societies out of which 62 housing societies have been approved, 60 are under process and 264 housing societies are illegal.
She said that RDA has registered 112 FIRs against illegal housing societies, issued 307 legal notices to illegal housing societies and sealed 135 offices of illegal societies. She said that most of the victims of fake societies, these are overseas Pakistanis who have been given the message on how to avoid fraud and for this purpose. RDA has provided data of legal and approved housing societies on its website. She said that in the current financial year 2020-21, the revenue target of RDA was Rs559 million as against the target of Rs295 million, which is 264 million more than the revenue target.
All this was made possible under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for the construction sector, the New Approval Regime and by implementing the campaign of Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister of Punjab. RDA saved Rs189 million in its non-development expenditure. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision is that government institutions are being modernized. Under this plan, digitisation has also been started in RDA which has gone under which residential and commercial maps are being received digitally which are being approved in a short period of 30 days.
