LAHORE: A man had been arrested by intelligence agencies from Lahore airport on suspicion of his involvement in Wednesday’s bomb blast near the residence of jailed Jamaat-ud-Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed, the police said on Thursday.
Geo News quoted police officials as saying that the man was asked to get off a Karachi-bound flight a few minutes before departure, adding that he had been taken to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the vehicle which was used in the bomb blast had also been identified, sources told Geo News. It was reported stolen in 2010.
Earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid in a video statement said Punjab Police had achieved “great success” in the investigation and was “close” to arresting the culprits. He also said those who wanted to spread chaos in the country and “put pressure on Pakistan” would fail. “Pakistan will never come under any pressure”, he added.
