Telenor issues sustainability report
ISLAMABAD: Telenor Pakistan has released its Sustainability Report for 2020 that details the company’s ongoing efforts to digitally transform society, while contributing to economic growth.
The report showcases Telenor Pakistan’s motivation to lead the country towards digitalisation with innovative and inclusive ICT solutions in areas of banking, agriculture, healthcare, digital skills, and education, etc.
The organisation contributed Rs1.6 billion towards Covid-19 relief efforts. In partnership with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), it provided food ration packs for 4,500 underprivileged families and personal protective equipment (PPEs) to doctors and paramedics across the country.
The in-kind contribution comprised of telecom and digital services, which included affordable internet, customised packages, public awareness campaigns, and donation collection through the My Telenor App, among others.
Telenor Pakistan also facilitated access to various digital learning platforms, including creating subsidised internet packages for students of Ministry of Information and Technology’s DigiSkills Programme.
The report highlighted these achievements, while reflecting the organisation’s business strategy and purpose to empower societies. The report also reiterates Telenor Pakistan’s commitment to the UN SDGs, with a focus on goal #10, Reduced Inequalities.
Telenor Pakistan Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Kamal Ahmed said, “This year’s Sustainability Report is not just a summary of our achievements, but rather a promise and demonstration of our unwavering resolve in building a sustainable path for Pakistan’s digital future.”
