TOBA TEK SINGH: On the direction of Lahore High Court Judge Ms Justice Ayesha A Malik, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmad presented his report through varsity's legal adviser Advocate Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid on Wednesday regarding a petition filed against Gojra PTI MPA Bilal Asghar Warraich with allegation of having a fake BA degree.
In his four-page report, VC confirmed that MPA's BA degree was quashed by the University Syndicate after Faisalabad Board had declared that his intermediate certificate was bogus. VC's report added that PU Syndicate had issued a quashing notification of his BA degree on July 29 in 2015.
The Court has fixed June 29 for next hearing. The writ petition was filed by the Gojra voter of the said MPA’s constituency, Mr Zahid Rasool. The petitioner had taken the stance that in 2015 when on Supreme Court had directed for original and verified educational certificates of Parliamentarians, it was revealed by the PU Syndicate that Faisalabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education had declared MPA's intermediate passing certificate issued in 1995 as bogus, and on the base of this fake certificate, MPA had appeared in BA exams by cheating the university so his BA degree issued in 1997 was quashed by PU Syndicate. The petitioner had sought disqualification of the MPA.
