24 more die of Covid-19, 608 others test positive in Sindh

Covid-19 claimed 24 more lives in Sindh during the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,220 in Sindh, said Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in his daily Covid-19 situation report on Friday.

In the meantime, 715 patients were under treatment at different hospitals, of whom the condition of 676 patients was stated to be critical while 56 patients on then had been put onto life support.

In addition to 24 deaths overnight in the province, 608 new cases of the viral disease emerged during the last 24 hours after 11,458 tests were conducted, adding that it constituted

a 5.3 per cent current detection rate.

So far 4,260,882 tests had been conducted in Sindh, against which 327,004 cases were diagnosed, of which 91.2 per cent or 298,344 patients had recovered, including 798 overnight. The CM said that currently 23,440 patients were under treatment, of whom 22,704 were in home isolation, 21 at isolation centres and 715 at different hospitals.

Of the 608 new cases, 393 were detected from Karachi, including 129 from District East, 86 District Central, 77 District South, 48 District Malir, 31 District Korangi and 22 District West.

In the rest of Sindh, Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad had 23 new cases, Mirpurkhas 19, Badin 17, Jamshoro 13, Naushero Feroze, Sanghar and Umerkot 10 each, Qamber, Khairpur, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan nine each, Tharparkr and Jacobabad eight each, Matiari and Tando Allahyar six each, Kashmore and Sukkur four each, Dadu two, Larkana and Shikarpur one each.
