ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday took strong exception to the dilapidated condition of N-25 highway and rejected a report submitted by National Highways Authority (NHA).
The court sought a comprehensive report pertaining to repair of highways and accidents across the country. The chief justice asked Shahid Ehsan, member Planning, about the disbursement of funds given to the NHA. The CJ observed that the NHA was tainted with corruption and it had failed to do quality work on any road.
"The media reported today that some 36,000 people died in road accidents this year”, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, another member of the bench observed. Shahid Ehsan promised that roads' condition would be improved by year-end.
