77 more perish as Covid-19 infection rate drops to 2.9pc
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported 1,118 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 936,131. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), t the positivity rate currently stood at 2.94% across the country. Last time the country reported a positivity rate below 3% was on February 14 when it had been recorded at 2.61%.
The country’s death toll climbed to 21,453 after 77 more people succumbed to the deadly disease.Meanwhile, 2,244 patients recovered from the deadly disease in a day taking total recoveries to 869,691. According to NCOC, total active Covid-19 cases across the country were reported to be 44,987.
Pakistan continued to report a decline in the coronavirus cases with the positivity rate falling below 3% for the first time in almost four months. The NCOC meeting was chaired by Minister for Planning, Development Asad Umar.
