Sindh development budget: Sherry Rehman submits adjournment motion notice in Senate Sectt
ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan People’s Party in the Senate, Senator Sherry Rehman, submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate Secretariat on the grievances of Sindh on reduction of allocation for the province in the development budget by the National Economic Council.
Senator Sherry Rehman, in her adjournment motion notice, said despite the Sindh government's grievances, the National Economic Council has approved the national development outlay of Rs 2,102 billion while development funds for Sindh have been drastically reduced and for 2021-2022, the PSDP allocations for Sindh have been slashed further to Rs5.1 billion.
She said for a province that produces more than 60 percent of the country’s total gas and contributes a massive 30 percent of the total GDP, such allocations amount to injustice, adding the House be adjourned to discuss this crucial matter of public importance. Sherry also submitted the calling attention notice in the Senate Secretariat on the tragic train accident in Ghotki.
In her calling attention notice, she said the train accident in Ghotki recently claimed about 66 lives. “Given that the track was clearly damaged and that the number of such incidents has gone up in the last few years, it is crucial that the minister for railways should explain why such fatalities were become shockingly frequent,” she said.
