A middle-aged man was shot dead on Sunday in the Al-Falah Society area of the city allegedly by his drug addict son upon refusal to pay money for drugs.

The incident took place at a house located in Millat Town within the limits of the Al-Falah police station. Upon receiving the information, police and rescuers reached the property and transported the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities where the deceased person was identified as 55-year-old Nasir Khan.

The man was asleep when his young son, Nadir, shot and killed him, police said, adding that the family told them that Nadir was a drug addict. According to the family, the son was earlier addicted to hashish but he had started taking crystal meth (ice) for the past six months. The family informed police that Nadir also had a clash with his father a couple of days ago after the latter refused to pay him money for drugs.

The family claimed that Khan was asleep when Nadir shot and killed him with a licensed pistol, and escaped. Police also seized two empty shells of a 30bore pistol from the crime scene. The deceased man was the father of three children and a labourer by profession. A case has been registered against Nadir and further investigations are under way.
