Govt taking effective steps to control pollution: CM

LAHORE : Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the incumbent government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been taking effective measures to control environmental pollution.

He said that projects like Clean and Green Pakistan and the Billion Tree Tsunami will help to overcome climate change issues of the country. In his message on world environment day, he said the PTI government had turned the tree-planting drive into a movement. He termed environmental pollution a challenge for the whole world as well as for Pakistan and asserted that "We have to provide a clean ad healthy environment to our coming generations. " He said that environmental pollution was badly affecting human health and destroying the climate.

The comity of nations must work together to control the factors which were affecting the environment, he added. Forests play a vital role to protect the environment, therefore, its protection to overcome pollution was utmost necessary. There was no alternative of the beauty of lush green and dense forests, he added. Usman Buzdar said that the purpose of celebrating this day was to create awareness among the masses to protect the environment from the effects occurred due to climate changes and to ensure the clean, green as well as natural environment.

Meanwhile, on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, 677 Corona Vaccination Centres had been set up across the province which have been made operational round the clock. In this connection, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had said that the number of corona vaccination centres was being increased in Lahore and other parts of the province to accommodate maximum people on daily basis. He said that best arrangements had been made for the people at the vaccination centres and 168,700 people were vaccinated in Punjab during the last 24 hours whereas, 4.6 million people had been vaccinated in Punjab so far. Usman Buzdar urged the people not to believe in the rumors about corona vaccine and people should not show carelessness in getting vaccine. The vaccine administered in Pakistan was approved by the World Health Organization and the National Drug Regulatory Authority.

The chief minister said that as compared to other provinces, more people were being vaccinated every day in Punjab. He appealed to the people to follow the SOPs, wear facemasks and observe the guidelines issued by the government. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of torture on the doctors in Services Hospital and sought a report from Health Secretary and CCPO Lahore. The Chief Minister directed to hold impartial inquiry of the incident and the report should be submitted to the CM''s Office, said a handout issued here Saturday. Usman Buzdar also directed to initiate legal action against the responsible, adding that such a tragic incident could not be tolerated.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the cylinder blast in a factory of Rawat Industrial Estate and sought a report from the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division.

The chief minister has also directed to probe the matter.

He also expressed deep sense of sorrow over the loss of lives of two persons in the incident and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.

Usman Buzdar directed the administration to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.

Usman Buzdar has taken notice of murder of a 13-year old child after kidnapping in Multan and sought a report from Inspector General Police.

The chief minister directed to apprehend the accused at the earliest after initiating legal action against them.

He said those involved in this heinous act do not deserve any concession. Usman Buzdar directed to ensure justice to the affected family at any cost.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of famous singer Sunny Benjamin (SB) John.

In his condolence message on Saturday, he extended his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family.

Usman Buzdar said that John had his own unique style in singing. SB John’s singing would long be remembered in the music field. He said that SB John’s death closed a golden chapter of world of music.
