CDA approves Rs156 billion budget for next fiscal year
Islamabad : The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board on Wednesday approved the Rs156.35 billion budget, the largest in the history of CDA for the new financial year 2021-22.
The authority's budget would be surplus by Rs73.9 billion as revenue collection target is Rs156 billion against expenditures of over Rs82 billion.
According to details, the meeting of CDA Board was held under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed. Board Members Shakeel Jazeb (Member Finance), Amir Abbas Khan (Member Administration), Naveed Elahi (Member Planning), Munawar Shah (Member Engineering), Nayyar Ali Dada (Member Architect), Iftikhar Arif, Chaudhry Muhammad Ali, Dr. Muhammad Ali, and architect Ali Asghar attended the meeting. Member Finance Shakeel Jazeb presented the budget for the financial year 2021-22 in which Rs40 billion has been allocated for various development projects. The new formed CDA Board also having three members from outside the authority, approved its very first budget on Wednesday.
These projects include Rs2 billion for construction of houses for low-income people in Farash Town, Rs60 million for Rawal Chowk Signal Free Corridor, Rs10 million for Margalla Avenue while other development projects including IJ Principal Road, PWD Underpass, 7th Avenue, 10th Avenue, a new slaughterhouse and a ladies club.
In addition, Rs5 billion has been allocated for beautification and renovation projects of the city, including water supply, street lights, sanitation, and park projects.
A budget of Rs50 billion was allocated during the last financial year, making the new budget the largest in the history of the CDA. The CDA has further approved Corona Allowance for the next 5 months for Grade 1 to Grade 19 employees and officers. Other than that, CDA Board also approved the construction of a landfill site in F-16 for the city's garbage collection.
The last budget of CDA was surplus by Rs7.39 billion while the authority faced Rs1.31 billion budget deficit for the fiscal year 2019-20. The volume of the last budget was Rs49.11 billion.
