Sindh Culture Day celebrated with fervour

SUKKUR: The Sindh Culture Day is being celebrated in Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Nausharoferoze and other districts with enthusiastic men, women and children dancing in the streets of almost all the towns and villages of Sindh.

Various colourful programmes featuring folk songs and dances on the tunes of cultural songs were held in cities, towns and villages of Sindh.

The cultural activities were organized by the Sindh Culture Department, various political and social organizations, schools, colleges and universities of Sindh.

Rallies, seminars, debates, folk music programmes and theatrical performances, tableaus and literary sittings were also held to highlight Sindhi culture, history and heritage at the events.

A high volume of sale of Sindhi caps and Ajraks was also witnessed ahead of the celebrations. The Sindh Culture Department would also organize various programmes at the arts council in Khairpur and Larkana.

People celebrating it pledged to protect the Sindhi culture and the history of Sindh.

They also pledged to fight against those who demanded the division of Sindh.

Renowned journalist Mumtaz Bukhari and Professor Dr Abdul Majeed Chandio said that celebrating a cultural day is beyond any political gains or promotion of any party.

However, they said that all the political stakeholders, including the nationalists and literary people, and every segment of society were enthusiastically celebrating the day with the commitment to promote the culture of Sindh.
