Three Pakistanis among 15 foreigners arrested in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: The Afghan security forces arrested 15 foreign nationals, including three Pakistanis, in Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

Attaullah Khugiyani, spokesman for Nangarhar governor, told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the army personnel arrested 12 foreign nationals, including women and children, in Ghazi Amanullah Khan area in Rodat district. “Initial information showed the arrested individuals were citizens of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan,” he said. Two vehicles were recovered from their possession.

Separately, he said the security forces arrested three Pakistani nationals and seized a vehicle in the limits of Ghani Khel district. “They are residents of Kurram Agency, Tirah and Swat area in Pakistan,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives arrested nine foreign nationals, including women and children in Daronta area of Sarah Rod district two days ago.

Later, one of the arrested women exploded explosives inside the NDS office, killing herself, three children and an NDS operative. Officials said the arrested persons were speaking Russian language. However, it could not be ascertained whether they belonged to Russia or any of the central Asian states.
