Dr Humayun Mohmand resigns as PIMS BoG chairman
PESHAWAR: Dr Humayun Mohmand who was recently elected as member of the Senate on the ticket of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has resigned as chairman of the board of governors of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Dr Humayun Mohmand, who belongs to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was elected Senator from the province on a technocrat seat on March 3. He had been elected as the first chairman of the PIMS board of governors in December 2020 when the government converted the hospital into the Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) as part of the health sector reforms.
As the chairman and members of board of governors at PIMS and other MTI hospitals, mostly functioning in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, work voluntarily, Dr Humayun Mohmand wasn’t required to resign from the membership and chairmanship of the BoG after getting elected as Senator. But a source said he opted to resign for ethical reasons.
