KP govt okays construction of health facility at British-era sanatorium
MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved to build an international standard health facility at the British-era Dadar tuberculosis sanatorium, which is almost grounded after being hit by earthquake in 2005 and flash floods in 2010.
“Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has formally given the approval of this public and private sectors’ joint venture and this international standard health facility would be built at the Dadar TB sanatorium, once the Asia’s biggest treatment and environmental centre for this contiguous disease,” MNA Salah Mohammad Khan told reporters here on Tuesday.
He said that Dadar TB sanatorium stretching over an area of 1600 kanal was currently catering to the needs of general and mentally retarded patients at a limited scale as sanatorium was closed many years ago. “This pre-partition TB sanatorium was badly damaged after being hit by the natural calamities and this is why the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on my proposal included it among four international standard health facilities which are being built across the province,” said Khan.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had signed a memorandum of understanding with mega firms for the construction of modern health facilities in Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Malakand and Mansehra.
“Patients go to health facilities in big cities but on completion this high-tech hospital would help provide treatment to patients,” he said.
