AS Rind’s paintings on display

New art season started with the inauguration of solo exhibition of paintings of well-known artist AS Rind at the Revivers Galleria in Gulberg in a colourful manner.
On display in the exhibition, appropriately titled “Sham-e-Faraq-Yaraan”, are 42 paintings, including 15 drawings on paper, based on the patterns and colours of women from Rajasthan, Thar and Cholistan. Karachi-based artist AS Rind has used element like jewellery, musical instruments and vibrant colours of outfits in his paintings which give a very impressive and colourful touch to his artwork. All the paintings have been created by him during this year 2015.
The artist has used acrylic on canvas as a medium in wash techniques to express his artistic approach and imagination in an absorbing manner. The figures in his paintings depict a mixed expression of happiness and sorrow which gives depth to his creative work. Selected verses of Asadullah Khan Ghalib, Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Saifuddin Saif are very significant in AS Rind’s paintings on display in the exhibition scheduled to continue till December 10.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the exhibition by cutting the ribbon in the presence of a number of art lovers. He took a round along with artist AS Rind, LCCI former President Mian Anjum Nisar, LCCI Secretary General Shahid Khalil, owner and curator of the Revivers Galleria Ms Sara Anjum and art lovers. Rind explained salient features of the paintings and answered queries from the chief guest.
Rind, who had specially flown from Karachi to be present at the inauguration of his solo artwork, returned to Karachi Saturday evening. He remarked prior to his departure that his artwork had always been greatly appreciated by the fellow artists and the art lovers of Lahore whenever he had displayed his artwork in the cultural capital of Pakistan.
This is Rind’s 19th solo art show on the whole since 1993 and fourth at the Revivers Galleria. Besides, he has also participated in more than 60 group shows within Pakistan and foreign countries, including Dubai, Bahrain, Singapore, Britain, Canada, USA, India and Bangladesh.
