The signal-free Islamabad Expressway would have the unique facility of a segregated lane for bikers. It would be first major avenue of the country which is being provided with this facility.
CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal was informed during a visit to the site of the project that segregated lanes for motorcycle and bicycle riders have been tested and scrutinised in many countries and been proven as successful experience for maintaining road safety and smooth traffic flow on the roads.
CDA Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering Shahid Sohail and senior officers of Engineering Wing were present on the occasion.
The CDA chairman said that the addition of this facility would not only help increase road safety but also help maintain uninterrupted traffic flow on the signal-free corridor.
