Media superstar Dr Amir Liaquat becomes Geo Entertainment president

KARACHI: Dr Amir Liaquat – among 100 popular personalities of Pakistan, named third time in 500 influential Muslims worldwide, top-ranking TV anchor who introduced celebrating religious days on camera and was declared superstar and megastar after conducting 19-hour Ramzan transmission, author to many books and host to popular TV shows like Aalim Online, Alim aur Alam, head of Mehmoodah Sultana Foundation – has been appointed president of Geo Entertainment. He will also be Jang Group Editor (Religious Affairs), looking after all Islamic pages and tasked with guiding Geo Network on important issues. He is among the founding members of Geo that has become an identity of Pakistan in the world for 15 years. He has played his part in inter-religious and inter-sectarian harmony. Audience were feeling his absence, especially during Muharram, on TV screens after success of his shows Ramazan Sharif, Subah Pakistan and Inam Ghar. To come up to expectations of audience, he has decided to be associated with Geo once again.
He has launched historical transmissions during Ramazan every year, reciting special Kalam. His transmissions were titled Salam Ramazan, Mehman Ramazan, Eman Ramazan, Paygham Ramazan, Rehman Ramazan, Pehchan Ramazan, Aman Ramazan, Pakistan Ramazan and Ramazan Sharif.
International Herald Tribune and New York Times declared him super star after his successful transmission titled Aman Ramzan on Geo. New York Times declared him superstar mentioning that he can run marathon transmissions spanning many hours and he is full of energy. He knows to keep viewers glued to the TV screens which is why he is getting record ratings.
Following the trends of live religious ceremonies that he introduced 15 years ago on Geo, other channels have started live coverage of these festivals too. His morning show Subah Pakistan represents lifestyle and values of Pakistani society. Countless deserving people got aid in his shows. Lost Indian girl Geeta could reach India due to his efforts as he had introduced her on TV screen for the first time.
