LAHORE: The wives of both the key NA-122 candidates, Abdul Aleem Khan and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, happen to be the daughters of former Lahore High Court (LHC) judges.
While Ayaz Sadiq’s wife Reema is the daughter of former Lahore High Court Chief Justice and a former Federal Ombudsman Sardar Muhammad Iqbal (1928-May 4, 2008), Aleem’s wife Kiran Sabir Raja is the daughter of another former LHC arbiter Justice (R) Raja Muhammad Sabir, who was appointed as an Additional High Court Judge on October 10, 1995 and had retired after attaining the age of superannuating in January 2004.
Ayaz Sadiq’s father-in-law, Sardar Iqbal, was the LHC Chief Justice between 1969 and 1973, and had also served as the President of the World Association of Judges.
One of Ayaz Sadiq’s close relatives is former Water and Power Federal Secretary, Ismail Qureshi.
On the other hand, Aleem Khan’s wife Kiran happens to be the niece of former Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Anwar, and hence the first cousin of a Pakistan People’s Party leader Mehreen Anwar Raja, who had served as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs.
Aleem Khan’s brother-in-law, Hashim Sabir Raja, was appointed an Assistant Advocate General Punjab in June 2005 and is a renowned Golfer at national level.
Contesting for pride in Lahore’s NA-122 constituency, both Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan have another thing in common; they run self-financed charities—-Sardar Trust Eye Hospital and the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation respectively.
