Adviser says late journalist’s family to get Rs 1m compensation
PESHAWAR: Adviser to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Ajmal Wazir has stated that the provincial government has been deeply saddened by the death of senior journalist Fakhruddin Syed due to Covid-19.
The journalist community has lost a talented and hardworking fellow and his services will always be remembered, he said as he visited the residence of the deceased at Gulbahar to offer fateha, as per an official handout. He said Fakhruddin Syed lost his life while fulfilling his professional obligations on the frontline, just like others, against Covid-19.
According to the advisor, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had announced Rs 1 million financial assistance for the family of the deceased journalist. He said the Information Department had been directed to pay the amount to the affected family as soon as possible
The adviser said the family members of late Fakhruddin Syed should not feel alone in this hour of grief as the provincial government stood by them. He said the journalist community was serving on the frontline and the provincial government would do everything possible to help newspersons since media played an important role in sensitizing people on Covid-19. The advisor said the KP had the highest recovery rate from Covid-19, adding 200 isolation wards had been set up for such patients in the province with a the capacity of 5,598 beds. He explained up to 359 quarantine centres and over 550 ventilators had been reserved for coronavirus patients. The adviser said that citizens should follow the guidelines issued by the government as the only treatment for coronavirus was to take precautionary measures. He stated that the chief minister was himself on the frontline by visiting hospitals and quarantine centres.
