Shibli Faraz sworn in as information minister

ISLAMABAD: Senator Shibli Faraz was sworn in as the Minister for Information and Broadcasting at a ceremony held at the President House, here on Tuesday.

The oath was administered by President Dr Arif Alvi. Social distancing was strictly followed by participants. Faraz is the son of prominent Urdu poet Ahmad Faraz and nephew of former speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Barrister Masood Kausar.

He did his Masters in International Relations from the University de Los Andes (Colombia) in 1994.

Faraz is also the Leader of the House in Senate. He was elected on a general seat of the Upper House from KP on the ticket of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He is an investment banker by profession and was a Pakistan Air Force pilot and then a civil servant.

Later, Information Minister Faraz and Special Assistant on Information Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa called on Prime Minister ImranKhan, said PM Office media wing in a press release.
