Smuggled goods worth millions of rupees seized in raids

In the ongoing operation against smuggled goods, officials of the Pakistan Customs conducted raids on four warehouses in Bolton Market, MA Jinnah Road and at the Rangwala building, and seized a huge quantity of cigarettes, cigars and gutka.

According to a customs spokesperson, the smuggled goods included 12,995 packs, popularly called a danda, of cigarettes, 3,150 packets of cigar, each having 10 cigars, 564 packets of tobacco and 195 bags of Indian gutka.

The total value of the seized goods was approximately Rs43 million, said the spokesperson. A case has been registered while an investigation is under way.

Cow thief arrested

The Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) police claimed to have arrested a suspect for allegedly involved in the theft of cows from a farm in Surjani Town. According to the AVLC spokesperson, the arrest was made during a raid in Gadap Town. The arrested suspect was identified as Saddam Hussain, son of Hashim. The spokesperson said five stolen cows were found from his possession.
