Man run over by car in Haripur
HARIPUR: A car driver was arrested for allegedly running over a former government contractor in Hattar Industrial Estate, police said on Tuesday. The Hattar police quoted the family of the deceased, Ahmad Din, a former government contractor that he had a monitory dispute with one Abdul Waseh belonging to Rawalpindi. Ahmad Din was standing on roadside with his relatives near Gulu Bandi stop of Hattar Industrial Estate on Monday evening when Abdul Waseh came driving his car (882-AHE) recklessly from Haripur side and deliberately ran over Ahmad Din, injuring him critically. The accused escaped from the scene, but the relatives of Ahmad Din chased him on motorbike and got hold of him near Hattar village and handed hm over to police. The former contractor was shifted to a private hospital in Taxila where he succumbed to injuries. Ahmad Din’s family told the police that the accused was reluctant to pay off Rs3 million to the deceased and he deliberately hit him. The police registered criminal case against Abdul Waseh under sections 322 and 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The accused was produced before the court of judicial magistrate on Tuesday who sent him on judicial remand for 14 days, police said.
