Karachi University on Monday received as many as 7,000 face masks, including over 50 N95 masks, from the Sichuan Normal University (SNU), China.
The masks were handed over by Karachi University Confucius Institute Chinese Director Professor Zhang Xiaoping to the KU Clinic. He said Pakistan and China had been good friends for many years and we got immense support from Pakistan after the coronavirus outbreak in China.
The acting vice chancellor of the KU, Professor Dr Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, and CIUK Professor Dr Muhammad Nasiruddin Khan and others recorded video messages and prayed for early recovery of people affected by the virus.
Iraqi said the administration of the KU was grateful to the SNU for their goodwill gesture, adding that the Pak-China friendship was getting stronger and deeper with the passage of time, especially this difficult time was bringing them even closer.
KU Registrar Professor Dr Saleem Shahzad said that the SNU had sent a gift to help the KU staff to help in the fight against the virus. The CIUK director and the KU’s Dr Syed Abid also thanked the SNU for providing face masks.
