Labour committee to monitor payment of wages during lockdown
The Chairman of the Sindh Tripartite Committee for Implementation of Labour Laws has asked the employers in the province to implement the government’s orders for making payments to all their staff during the lockdown period in letter and spirit and support workers in these very difficult times.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, senior members of the committee, including Chairman Zaki Ahmed, representing the Employers Federation of Pakistan, Karamat Ali of the Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research, and Habibuddin Junaidi of the People’s Labour Bureau, representing the trade unions and labour organisations and other members, said the committee would strictly monitor the implementation of the orders issued on Monday with support from the provincial labour department.
The Sindh Tripartite Committee for Implementation of Labor Laws, which was formed last year for the implementation of the labour laws and policy in the province after a mutual consultation, has agreed to ensure the implementation of the government orders that no employee would be laid off during the lockdown and wages would be paid to all staff, including daily wagers and contract employees. The committee would soon meet and chalk out a strategy.
