Disruption in Geo News broadcast: IHC issues notices to govt, Pemra, cable operators
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday issued notices to the federal government, chairman Pemra and cable operators in a plea seeking action against the cable operators responsible for the Geo News channel closure and disruption in broadcast despite court orders.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah took up the petition filed by the Independent Media Corporation. Amir Abdullah Abbasi advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the applicant. Justice Minallah said the court had already issued an order in this regard. To this, the petitioner's counsel responded that "the channel has been restored but we have another request that action should be taken against those who are causing disruption in the broadcast." The court issued notices to parties in the matter and adjourned the hearing.
