Bride among five killed in road accident
MANSEHRA: Five people including a bride were killed and another sustained critical injuries when a jeep carrying the participants of a baraat (wedding party) plunged into a ravine in Choar Kalain area of the Oghi tehsil on Friday.
The jeep taking bride and member of her family was on way to Tilli Syedan village in Torghar district from Dilbori area when the driver while negotiating a sharp curve couldn’t hold control over the steering. The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine. The locals rushed to scene and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced Mushtaq Shah, Amir Hussain Shah, Zameen Shah, sister of Gul Afsar (bride) and mother of Rehan Shah dead. “We have staged protests seeking blacktopping of all bumpy roads linking Oghi with the Torghar district but to no avail. This is a series of such accidents frequently happening where a jeep taking a baraat met an accident and five people including bride are killed,” Akbar Hussain Shah, a former tehsil councillor, told reporters. Akbar Hussain Shah said the government should ensure that roads leading to Torghar from Oghi (Mansehra) were blacktopped to avoid such more deaths.
