Some media houses consider issuance of lesser ads as ban: Firdous Ashiq Awan
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Tuesday held out an assurance to representatives of journalist bodies that the recommendations of the Senate panel would be implemented.
This, she said, while presiding over a meeting here at PID, which was attended by PIO Tahir Hassan and representatives of media bodies to mainly focus on payment of salaries to media workers.
Dr Firdous assured the representatives of media bodies that the Senate standing committee report and related record would be obtained from the Senate Secretariat and action be initiated.
She rejected the impression by some media organisations that advertisements to two media houses had been banned and explained that some media houses considered issuance of lesser ads as ban.
She emphasised that the government did not believe in any strategy of putting ban on ads to any media house. Dr Firdous claimed that some media houses representatives during the Senate committee meeting Monday shared, what she called, incorrect data on ad payments. She promised to meet media owners after another meeting with representatives of media bodies.
