BANNU: Two persons were booked for pointing pistol at the officials of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) in a bid to stop them from demolishing their house during operation against encroachment in Bannu City on Tuesday, an official said.
Speaking to media, chief of the Building Control Authority, Umar Hayat Shah, said that the officials of the TMA were engaged in demolishing the encroachment in the city when Sajid and his brother, Shahid, came out of their home and pointed pistols at the officials there. After the incident, TMO Salim Javed Miankhel, TOR Asghar Naveed, Taxation Officer Farman Khan and others officials reached there and stopped the operation due to the incident. He said that the issue was also brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner Attur Rehman, adding that the first information report (FIR) had been lodged against the accused at the City Police Station. “We had already notified the encroachers to remove the encroachment of their own but some of them were not complying with the notice served on them,” he added. Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the office-bearers of the Local Government Employees Federation (LGEF) was held in which they condemned the incident and asked the provincial government to take stern action against the accused.
