Air Marshal Leghari made VCAS, Commodore Faisal promoted
ISLAMABAD: The government has appointed Air Marshal Ahmer Shehzad Leghari as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. Air Marshal Ahmer Shehzad Leghari who previously served as Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex would replace Air Marshal Asim Zaheer at his new office in Air Headquarters while Commodore Muhammad Faisal Abbasi has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect.
Air Marshal Leghari was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in November, 1984. During his illustrious career, he commanded fighter squadron and Operational Air Base. In his staff appointments he served at Air Headquarters as Chief Project Director Falcon and Director General Projects and also rendered services as Air Attaché at Pakistan Embassy, USA.
Other significant appointments of the Air Officer include Director General Logistics at Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala and Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Board, Kamra. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders’ School, National Defence University Islamabad and Command and Staff College, UK.
In recognition of his meritorious services and valuable contributions to PAF, he has been awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Legion of Merit (USA).
Meanwhile Commodore Muhammad Faisal Abbasi has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect. Rear Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi got commission in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1991. The Flag Officer is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and National Defence University, Islamabad.
The Admiral has an illustrious career with vast experience of various Command and Staff appointments. His major Command appointments include Commanding Officer PNS MUNSIF, PNS KHAIBAR and Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron.
His major Staff appointments include Senior Staff Officer (Operations) to Commander 18th Destroyer Squadron, Director Naval Operations and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. He has also preformed duties as Directing Staff at National Defence University, Islamabad.
The Admiral has been appointed to perform duties as Flag Officer Sea Training at Karachi. The Admiral is also a recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military).
