‘Drug dealer’ held with one kg ice

The Excise Police on Sunday said to have arrested an alleged drug peddler and found on him one kilogramme of narcotics. A spokesman for the provincial Excise Police said around one kilogramme of ice drug was found in the possession of Asadullah.

The alleged drug dealer was arrested near the Government Degree Science College, Liaquatabad. A case has been registered against him and an investigation has been launched. The spokesman said the arrest was part of an ongoing campaign against drug peddlers on the direction of the Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs, Mukesh Kumar Chawla.

The minister has also constituted a task force to take strict action against drug dealers targeting students at schools, colleges and universities.

Illegal goods

In a joint operation, the Sindh Rangers and the Customs seized non-custom paid products worth million of rupees during an operation conducted in an area which is on the boarder of Sindh and Balochistan.

A spokesman for the Ranger said the intelligence-based operation was carried out with Customs authorities near the Abdul Jabbar Shaheed Check-Post. A huge quantity of non-custom paid products was found in a container which was left for Lahore from Quetta, he said.

Sharing the details of the goods, he said the authorities found betel nuts weighed 1600 kilogramme, 37 bags of gutka, 1,348 cartons of cigarettes, 300 tyres, 42 bags of milk powder, 500 parts of motorcycles and 150 packs of welding rods. The seized goods had been handed over to the Customs for legal proceedings, he added.
