WAPDA, Karachi United win matches in National Women Football
KARACHI: WAPDA and Karachi United won their matches on the second day of the 12th National Women Football Championship here at KU Stadium on Thursday.
WAPDA crushed JAFA FC 5-0 with Mehnaz scoring a double. Shanzey Nazir, Dowa Jilani and Fatma hit one goal apeice. In the second outing, KU whipped Gilgit-Baltistan 8-0 with Soha hitting four goals. Nina landed a double, while Alina and Naqia struck once each.
In Group A outings here at KPT Stadium on the opening day on Wednesday, holders Army beat Diya FC 1-0. Aliza scored the winner in the sixth minute. In another game, Punjab bulldozed Karachi Kickers 14-0. Punjab scored eight goals in the first half and six in the second. Zulfia and Nizalia scored four goals each. Diana Baig hit a solid treble, Shahida struck a double, and Sara Khan scored one.
There are eight outfits competing in the event. The Group A carries KU, WAPDA, Gilgit-Baltistan and JAFA Women FC. Punjab, Army, Karachi Kickers and Diya FC are in Group B.
