NAB beneficiaries calling ordinance ‘mother of all NROs’
The PTI government can’t even think of giving any kind of relief to the corrupt elements, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday blasted the opposition for criticising the amended NAB Ordinance, alleging it was their machination to raise hue and cry of victimization whenever any of their leaders was held for corruption.
Speaking here at a function, she insisted that no relief had been given to corrupt elements, instead the honest and fair people had been given protection under the amended ordinance.
“The PTI government can’t even think of giving any kind of relief to the corrupt elements,” she said. She maintained that the NAB had been given full liberty and freed of the clutches of those involved in loot and plunder of the national wealth.
She made it clear that the government would ensure supremacy of the rule of law and desist from pleasing any individual.
Referring to the opposition’s criticism, she said the opposition would not have gone through the amended ordinance while the government was committed to doing away with the rotten system in every department and introducing reforms.
Dr. Awan said those who were supposed to safeguardthe national interest had laid foundation of Dawnleaks and engaged in conspiring against the state institutions. “And, this led to clash of the state institutions, whereas today they are giving lectures,” she regretted.
For the first time in history, Prime Minister Imran Khan, she noted, was playing the role of a bridge amongst the state institutions and strengthening them as well.
“Those who had benefited from the NAB and were the masters of striking deals are today calling the amended ordinance the mother of ordinances,” she contended.
Earlier, in tweets, she said availability of shelter for the homeless in freezing cold was the manifestation of prime minister’s compassion and questioned the criticism of this initiative by the PML-N leaders.
“The N League spokespersons are criticizing the panagahs without justification. They are supposed to criticize those living in cosy residences in London instead of shelterless people. The foundation of Naya Pakistan has been laid on compassion,” she noted.
She said the government was fulfilling its responsibility by providing shelter to the homeless and poor people, being the aim of life of Imran Khan, whereas the looter League was leading a lavish life in London after plundering the wealth meant for the poor and needy people.
“The Sharifs thought only of their children while Imran Khan’s struggle is for a bright future of the nation’s children,” she maintained.
