Professor Inam Bari laid to rest
Former Karachi University professor Inam Bari breathed his last due to renal failure a day earlier and was laid to rest at the university’s graveyard on Saturday.
He had been suffering from kidney disease for quite some time and undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Scores of mourners, including educationists, relatives and students, attended the funeral prayers.
Prof Bari was a former professor at the KU’s mass communication department and adviser to the vice chancellor on information and media. Besides his splendid career in academia, he served as chairperson of Sindh’s Council of Complaints of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and also served Radio Pakistan.
Expressing deep grief over his death and sympathy with the bereaved family, Sindh Minister for Information, Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani said that the late professor was honest and humble to the core.
Information Secretary Rasheed Ahmed Solangi said that his services for education, research and his efforts to raise awareness among the youth regarding ethical journalism would be remembered for a long time.
Paying rich tribute, Sindh Director Press Information Zeenat Jahan, a student of the late professor, said that the students of the mass communication department had lost a caring, creative and dedicated educator.
