Aisha Farooqui appointed Foreign Affairs spokesperson
ISLAMABAD: An ace diplomat Ms Aisha Farooqui has been appointed spokesperson of the Foreign Affairs vice Dr Muhammad Faisal Chaudhary, who has been designated country’s ambassador to Germany. The new spokesperson has assumed the charge on Thursday.
Ms Aisha was Pakistan's consul general in Houston and recently transferred to the headquarters as Director General. Syed Abrar H Hashmi has been appointed consul general in Houston where he also has assumed the assignment. Well-placed sources told The News here Thursday that with the change of the spokesperson no alteration is expected in the approach in foreign affairs. Unlike her predecessor, Ms Aisha hasn't been given charge of any desk since Dr Muhammad Faisal Chaudhary spearheaded the South Asia desk of the Foreign Office very ably. It is likely new spokesperson will also be assigned any important desk. Ms Aisha is third female spokesperson after Ms Tasnim Aslam and Ms Tehmina Janjua.
