‘Rs5,000 banknote not discontinued’

ISLAMABAD: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday categorically rejected the reports about the discontinuation of Rs5,000 banknote and requested the general public to pay no heed to such disinformation.
“In case of demonetisation/discontinuation of any banknote, the SBP will announce the same well in advance and provide ample time to public to change the currency under demonetisation/discontinuation process,” a statement said. The general public could also check announcements on the SBP’s website and its social media platforms where all information gets updated as well, the statement added.
