Student council installation ceremony held
Rawalpindi :The investiture ceremony of the newly elected student council was held on Friday, in the Salma Masud Auditorium of F.G Postgraduate College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi.
Maj. General Muhammad Asghar Warraich HI(M), director general FGEI(C/G), Directorate was the chief guest. The ceremony started with the recitation of Quranic verses by Hafsa Mudassir. English Translation of the verses presented by Naima Asif. Na’at (SAW) was presented by Beenish Mustafa. Sajjar, Muneeba, Beenish and Nighat presented college anthem.
Speaking on this occasion the Principal, Mrs. Rana Arshad Qazi highlighted the role of student council in character building through better coordination between the students and administration. She advised the newly elected council members to set an example of discipline and good behaviour by practicing the virtues of tolerance, grace and humility. She further said that “The students, the parents and the teachers are the real troika for a positive and constructive change”, who can work all together for the diminishing traits of discipline and character building.
The former president student council, Haya Shaukat, in her speech said that her four years’ stay in this college groomed her into a disciplined citizen under the able guidance of teachers and whole hearted cooperation of students which enabled her to discharge her responsibilities in the befitting manner.
The chief guest Director General FGEI(C/G), Directorate took oath from the newly elected council members and presidents of various societies and distributed badges among them. Class representatives of M.A, B.S Programme, B.A and Intermediate classes were also installed badges for their new posts.
The new council members included: President: Amna Habib, Vice President: Hina Shabbir, General Secretary(1st shift): Fatima tu Zahra, General Secretary (2nd shift): Bushra Javed, Joint Secretary (1st shift): Ghulam Fatima, Joint Secretary (2nd shift) Sadia Jameel. The incumbent president Amna Habib expressed her gratitude to the principal and teachers for their trust and confidence in selecting her for the post.
The following girls got medals as the presidents of various societies: Saman Khalid (Islamic Society), Shanzay Fatima (English Debating Society), Faiza Babar (Urdu Debating Society), Iqra Shakir (Home Economics Society), Rimsha Noor (Fine Arts Society), Fozia Zafar (Science Society), Zarqa Rasool (Computer Science Society), Shazina Zafar (Dramatics Society), Amna Anjum (Cultural Society) and Shabana Bibi (Sports Society).
Editor College Magazine (English) Mahnoor Fatima, Editor College Magazine (Urdu) Anna Zahidi Satti, Press Secretary (English) Marwa Sajjad and Press Secretary (Urdu) Sana Shehzad. The chief guest congratulated the student council and emphasised the torch bearers to prove themselves par excellence. He admired the unique and distinguished place the college enjoys among the FGEI’s and nationwide.
