Finance and IT school of Sindh police inaugurated

The Sindh police on Friday inaugurated its school of finance and information technology built in collaboration with various dignitaries and financial institutions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior police officers. The chief guest at the event was Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Zulfiqar Larik was lauded during the ceremony for playing a key role in the establishment of the School of Finance and Information Technology. Additional IG Aftab Ahmed Pathan, DIG Headquarters Abdul Khalique Shaikh and other officers had shared their experiences in establishing the school.

The participants were told that through the new school, the police wanted to ensure transparency, enhance efficiency and promote digitalisation for optimum utilisation of resources and effective public delivery.

The school has been conceptualised and will be executed with the mandate of building the capacity of police officers as well as ministerial staff towards efficient, transparent and optimum utilisation of financial resources of the Sindh police.

It was said at the event that financial management was a specialised area. The officers and officials of the Sindh police were faced with challenges of external and internal audits and financial discipline due to limited capacity and lack of knowledge of relevant rules and accounting procedures and practices.

Similarly, the induction of new softwares such as human resources management system, hotel eye, police station record management system and others necessitated it that personnel of the IT cadre and police officers are imparted training in this specialised area. The establishment of this school will help enhance the capacity of police personnel and civilian staff in these very significant specialised areas.

Wahab said no mundane force could obstruct the path of good governance. He added that the institution of the finance and IT had been established by the incumbent IG of the Sindh police. He expressed the hope that the school would perform as per the expectations.

He said it was the job of the Sindh government to carry out legislation and the provincial police force was supposed to implement the laws as the situation of law and order would only improve if the law was implemented. He remarked that due rights of women and children should be protected.

The law adviser said the provincial government would support the Sindh police in their every good initiative. He added that the provincial police force should be upgraded and promoted by modernising all its professional, technical, and training aspects.

Wahab, who also acts as the spokesman for the Sindh government, said the professional capabilities of police officers, personnel, and ministerial staff would surely be enhanced if they were given proper training to utilise the official resources with utmost regard for the related financial aspects.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam said the transparent and efficient utilisation of resources and professional development of manpower is the cornerstone of the vision of the Sindh police. He termed the establishment of school of finance and IT a great milestone. He also thanked the Sindh government for its consistent support in the initiative of the Sindh police.
