Seven injured in chemical factory fire at Sherakot
LAHORE:At least seven persons received burns when a fire erupted at a chemical factory near Bao Sammay Ghati in the Sherakot police limits on Thursday.
The injured were shifted to Mayo Hospital. The Rescue 1122 fire service controlled the fire after hectic efforts for over two hours. The victims with minor injuries have been identified as Zulifqar, 42, s/o Aziz, Tassawar, 26, son of Sarwar, Ahmed, 22, son of Saif, Muzammil, 18, son of Iqbal, Qasim, 28, son of Hanif, Nadeem, 24, son of Salamat and Tayyab, 19, son of Nazir.
The fire had erupted in a chemical drum which engulfed the entire premises. help desks at Kartarpur Corridor: Punjab police have established two help desks at Kartarpur Corridor for the protection and facility of Sikh pilgrims and tourists.
The staff of Punjab Highway Patrol deputed at the help desks will provide security, help and guidance to tourists. According to the vision of Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan, steps have been taken to provide best arrangements to Sikh pilgrims visiting Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Narowal.
The two help desks have been established and one DSP, 10 sub-inspectors, 18 assistant sub-inspectors, 21 head constables, 44 constables and other staff have been deputed. Two vehicles and four motorcycles will undertake patrolling on the way from the border to the Darbar.
crackdown: City division police, in a crackdown, claimed to have arrested 206 criminals. Police also recovered three bikes, 31 illegal pistols, mobile phones, bullets, more than 4kg charas and 164 litre liquor from the arrested persons. Two gangs of criminals were also busted by arresting their four members. Pistols, mobile phones, illegal weapons and cash from them were recovered. Moreover, 27 proclaimed offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, cheque bounce, fraud and other cases were arrested. Police also arrested 77 people for violating the ban on kite flying, wheelie and firing in the air.
accidents: The Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 responded to 922 road accidents in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Five people died and 1,101 suffered injuries in the road accidents. As many as 643 badly injured victims of accidents were removed to hospitals while 458 victims with minor injuries were given first aid by the rescue medical teams.
