Annual flower show opens
Islamabad : With the mutual collaboration of different departments, massive tree plantation is being carried out in the city under Prime Minister’s Clean and Green Pakistan Campaign.
Consolidated steps have been taken to protect and further enhance green cover of the Federal Capital.
These views were expressed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed while inaugurating the 37th Annual Spring Flowers and Birds Show 2019 at Rose and Jasmine Garden.
On this occasion, representatives of Islamabad Horticulture Society (IHS), officers of Environment Wing were also present. This exhibition is being participated by CDA, SUPARCO, PHA, FBR, KRL, Floriculture Rawalpindi, Serena Hotels, PAF Hospitals and NIH laboratories. Chairman CDA said that such exhibition should not be limited only to exhibition of flowers but through such events residents of the city should be educated about importance of environment and green character.
He further said that new concept and ideas of beautification are being introduced to beatify the city aesthetically. He further added that concept of kitchen gardening is being promoted in the city as it has a lot of scope in Pakistan particularly in Islamabad. He said that by kitchen gardening we can utilize unutilized space for example roof top and even small lawns. He further added that this concept is not only the source of daily consumption requirements but has also aesthetic value.
