Three, including two women, die in ‘Karo Kari’

SUKKUR: Three people including a man and two women were killed in the name of ‘Karo Kari’ in two different incidents at Muhammad Sharif Colony in Jacobabad and Pad Eidan on Friday.

The Saddar Police, Jacobabad, said an unidentified man shot dead a boy and a woman accusing them for being ‘Karo Kari’ and succeeded to escape from the spot. The police shifted the bodies to the local hospital where the victims were identified as Maharban Khan Dayo, a resident of Khanpur, Shikarpur, and Naheed Bibi.

The police said in another incident of similar nature, a man Muhammad Umar Khaskheli allegedly tortured his wife Robina to death due to being ‘Karo Kari’ in the village of Khuda Bux Khaskheli in Pad Eidan. The police have arrested the alleged killer but the FIR was not yet registered against the accused.

In another incident, some unidentified men tortured a principal and a teacher of a school run under the Sindh Education Foundation in Shikarpur. The police said the Principal Zubair Ahmed Chandio and teacher Naveed Ahmed Phulpoto of Ghahano Khan Jafferi School, were on the way to school via a Chingchi rickshaw when they were intercepted by some unknown assailants who allegedly tortured them.

The alleged assailants claimed that the victims insulted them in the presence of three lady teachers. They also threatened the victims of dire consequences if they continued running the school.
