Govt adds new members to Thar coal board
The Sindh government has added five new members to its Thar Coal and Energy Board and they all belong to the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party, it emerged on Thursday.
A notification issued by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah stated: “In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (v) and (vi) of sub-section (5) and sub-section (6) of section 3 of the Thar Coal and Energy Board Act 2011 and in suppression of all notifications of even number issued in this behalf, the Government of Sindh is pleased to nominate the following as members on the Thar Coal and Energy Board (TCEB).
Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Shazia Mari has been made a new member of the Thar Coal and Energy Board under the category of one female MNA from the Thar region, as given in section 3(5)(v) of the act.
Three provincial ministers have also been nominated as new members of the board as given in section 3(5) (vi) of the act. These are: Sindh Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Sindh Education and Culture Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, and Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh.
The chief minister’s adviser on law, information, archives and anti-corruption, Murtaza Wahab, has also been made a member of the board under the provision for additional members of the board as given in section 3(6) of the Thar Coal and Energy Board Act 2011.
