KP govt bans plastic bags
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed ban on use of plastic bags in the province and also decided to classify hotels and food shops on the basis of the cleanliness. The decision to this effect was taken by a committee headed by Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, said a handout. The committee formed by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan met here with information minister in the chair. MPA Dr Asia, WSSP CEO Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Dr Amjad Ali, Additional Secretary Law Syed Asghar Ali Shah, Director EPA Sanaullah Khan, deputy director local government, President Plastic Manufacturing Association Naseem Gul and others also attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that rules were enacted in 2017 for use of oxydegradable plastic bags, but it was not implemented. The minister said that the deputy commissioners of all over the province would be directed to impose section-144 on manufacturing and sale of plastic bags.
