Standard Chartered U12 Youth League champions invited to play in Qatar
KARACHI: The winning team of the Standard Chartered Under-12 Youth League Championship has been invited by the renowned Aspire Sports Academy in Qatar to participate in a tri-series international tournament.
Standard Chartered has been sponsoring the Karachi United Football league for the past two years.As many as 720 boys’ and 80 girls’ teams participated in the league which kicked off at the Karachi United Stadium in September.
A total of 128 matches were played at different locations including Old Golimar, Clifton, Malir, Baldia, Liyari, Korangi and Mauripur.Through this tournament, 12 community centres were engaged.
The objective of the event was to provide a platform for youth football teams across Karachi.Majority of the graduates of Aspire Sports Academy play for the Qatar national football team which has recently been crowned Asian Champions.This is a significant step for an under-privileged team in particular and for football in Pakistan in general – to be invited to such a prestigious event.
